Sadio Mane is aiming to make Merseyside derby goalscoring history when Liverpool take on Everton at Anfield today.

Last season, Liverpool recorded their 15th league double over Everton and sixth of the Premier League era.

One of those wins - the 1-0 success at Goodison Park - came courtesy of a 94th-minute Mane goal. It was the fourth time the Reds had claimed a victory over their neighbours in the 90th minute or later in the Premier League era.

This will be the 197th league fixture between the sides, with the Reds having won 76 to the Blues' 57. It is the most-played derby in English league football.

Liverpool's biggest derby win at home came in September 1935 - a 6-0 success.

Twenty-seven players have been sent off in Merseyside derby history - nine from Liverpool and 18 from Everton. This after just five in the first 88 years of the fixture. The last four times the Reds have lost a man in league matches between the sides, they have gone on to win.

If the hosts avoid defeat in this match, they will equal their club record of 15 derbies without losing in all competitions - a feat previously achieved from 1972-1978.

A goal from Mane today will see him become the first Red since Robbie Fowler in 1996 to score in a third successive meeting with the Blues. He would also become the first player in history from either side to find the net in his first three Merseyside derby appearances.

Georginio Wijnaldum could play his 50th league game for Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah has scored eight times in his last seven league games and has 12 goals in the top flight this season. Since Luis Suarez left the club, no player has scored more than 13 in a full league season; Philippe Coutinho and Mane hitting that figure last term.

Emre Can could play his 150th game for Liverpool in league and cup. He joined the Reds in 2014.

The Blues' last win at Anfield came in September 1999 when Kevin Campbell scored the winner four minutes into the game.
