New Year, same old transfer rumours.

Liverpool are, as ever, being linked with all and sundry and, with the transfer window officially opening on January 2, we can only expect more rumours to come.

First up, the Metro are reporting that Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Toni Kroos in January as he looks to add class to Liverpool's midfield.

The Germany international has made 75 appearances for Real Madrid since signing for the Spanish giants from Bayern Munich in 2014, but he's reportedly struggling to establish himself under Rafa Benitez this term.

The 25-year-old has been linked with Liverpool in the past, and Klopp will know the midfielder well from his time in Germany.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been warned off Schalke star Leroy Sane, with general manager Horst Heldt saying that even Manchester City couldn't afford the Germany star.

Sane has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent months after a great first half of the season in the Bundesliga, but Heldt says the 19-year-old doesn't plan on leaving.

He told BILD: “We don’t want to sell him and Leroy doesn’t want to leave the club.

“Even Man City haven’t got that much money!”
