Liverpool have received a boost in their pursuit for Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam, after one of his team-mates' agent suggested he will not sign a new deal at the Serie A side.

Mario Giuffredi, who represents Mino Rui, claimed that if the 26-year-old "wanted to renew, he'd already have done it" on Radio Crc report Football Italia.

The Algerian international joined Napoli from Saint-Etienne in 2014 and has established himself as one of Serie A's best left-backs.

Liverpool, who's problems in defence have been well documented this season, have been linked with Ghoulam, who would likely be an excellent fit for Jurgen Klopp's style of play.

His current deal expires at the end of this season, meaning he will be able to talk to overseas clubs in January, ahead of a free transfer in the summer.
