Liverpool are on the cusp of a deal for Monaco star Thomas Lemar, according to reports in France.

Lemar was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, with Liverpool and Arsenal both pushing hard to sign the 22-year-old midfielder.

However, Monaco refused all offers for Lemar and it’s understood the Ligue 1 outfit have been holding out for a bid in excess of £88million for the France international.

Le 10 Sport are now reporting in their magazine that Liverpool are close to an agreement in principle for their long-term target. It’s claimed the Reds have ‘made some good moves’ in recent weeks and are putting the finishing touches on a potential deal.

Lemar only has two years remaining on his contract at the Stade Louis II and Monaco could be tempted to lower their asking price for the Frenchman. Atletico Madrid are also plotting a move for Lemar as a possible replacement for Antoine Griezmann in the summer.
